We have expanded our global operations, establishing new presences in Toronto, Canada and Yokohama, Japan, after a successful simultaneous deployment to both cities last year.

We have expanded our global operations, establishing new presences in Toronto, Canada and Yokohama, Japan, after a successful simultaneous deployment to both cities last year.

In order to deliver services to our clients at SIBOS in Toronto and the World Lung Cancer Conference in Yokohama at the same time, we needed to source staff and machines in both countries. Our North American operations include Boston, so for the SIBOS conference at the Metro Toronto Conference Centre (MTCC) it was relatively straightforward to bring personnel and equipment in as required.

By working in conjunction with the MTCC catering group to provide nearly 70 coffee bars across 200 exhibition stands, we shipped 40 coffee machines, from capsule machines to full espresso bars, from our Boston operation to MTCC. We purchased the remaining equipment in Toronto from a locally recommended supplier.

Seven days before the event 42 of our trained staff and supervisors from Canada, and supervisors from Markey UK and Markey US, arrived in Toronto to prepare and train on the new machines and equipment.

Now, with a stock of espresso machines now established in Toronto, we’re poised to develop our relationship with MTCC further in 2018

Meanwhile, six and a half thousand miles away in Yokohama we needed to deliver coffee bars for three pharmaceutical clients exhibiting at the IASLC 18th World Conference on Lung Cancer at the Yokohama Convention Center. With no personnel or equipment in Japan, we needed to seek out and partner with reputable local suppliers who could meet our stringent quality and customer service standards. With an agent in Yokohama we can now begin to build up our stock of machines and train new staff.

We have been expanding our network of agents and offices across the world for seven years, and this expansion marks our first foray into the Japanese event market, and the challenge of bringing our brand of consistency and excellence to bear on the comparatively new coffee culture of Japan.
