Our initial Cross Association Working Group of 2018 was The Event Industry HR Group who met at the QEII Centre, a first for the venue as attendee and as host.

There was strong attendance by members from all three associations including new representation from DMG Events.This supported the full and varied agenda which had been created for the day. GDPR remained a pertinent concern across all companies at all levels and it was identified that while an understanding of the requirements exists, it does so at varying depths. An AEO member offered to organise and host an interactive session for those on the Group who wished to increase their knowledge base. Andrew Harrison from ESSA showcased their Talent Hub video.

Further discussion topics in the meeting covered equal pay, AEO talent group update, brand perception, 2018 salary surveys, gender neutral toilets and appraisals. AEV reminded the group on how to post job vacancies via their member area on their Association’s website.

The group actively engaged during the full morning’s meeting and agreed on a number of agenda items for the next meeting which takes place on 3rd October 2018 at The International Centre – Telford. QEII provided a fantastic lunch (courtesy of their caterers Leigh’s Dining).

QEII Centre’s Anna Clover (Director of Venue Operations & Customer Experience) concluded our visit with a tour. Appreciation was given to our hosts and Trevor Foley from tfconnect who chaired the meeting.
